Welcome to the Website of the Northern Rockies Blacksmiths Association!

The NRBA is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to the preservation of the craft of blacksmithing and to educational endeavors related to the craft.  We draw members primarily from Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and the Dakotas as well as several from Washington, Oregon and western Canada. The expertise of our members ranges from expert to beginner.  All are welcome to join.

The NRBA supports and encourages the continued professional development of working smiths, the budding skills of those new to the pursuit and the interest and education of the general public in this ancient and fascinating craft. We invite you to join us as a member and to support the preservation of blacksmithing into the 21st century and beyond.

The NRBA is an affiliate of the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA)

Our Next Conference is scheduled for Friday September 18 thru Sunday September 20, in Choteau, MT.  This conference is being held in connection with the
43rd Annual Teton Antique Steam and Gas Threshing Bee in Choteau. The Threshing Bee is held 2 blocks south of the Choteau City Park.  There are lots of signs to point the way (Choteau is not the largest of Montana cities), and a map is below.  Shawn Cunningham of Front Step Forge, https://frontstepforge.com/, will be demonstrating and attendees will complete the item demonstrated.  Camping is nearby, some dry, some with hookups.  Details are on the registration page.
